Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that Alan Wake 2 will feature a Performance Mode on consoles. This means that console players will be able to choose between running the game at 30 FPS with higher graphical fidelity or 60 FPS with lower graphical fidelity.
Thomas Puha, Remedy’s communications director, confirmed the news in a tweet, saying that Alan Wake 2 was originally designed as a 30 FPS experience, but that it will still have a Performance Mode option.
Puha said that he will share more details later, but when asked if Performance Mode will run the game at a locked 60 FPS, he explained that the development team is still working on it. Puha also did not mention the Xbox Series S version of the game, so it is still unclear how the performance and resolution targets will be on the weaker hardware of that console.
Alan Wake 2 is scheduled to release on October 27, 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
