Assassin’s Creed Red to Be Revealed at Ubisoft Forward

It was already heavily rumored, but now Insider Gaming has definitively confirmed that the gameplay trailer for Assassin’s Creed Red will be officially revealed during this year’s Ubisoft Forward event.

Assassin’s Creed Red to Be Revealed at Ubisoft Forward

According to sources, content creators and journalists will have access to the game during Summer Game Fest week, with the embargo lifting on June 12th. It’s still unclear if there will be a pre-Ubisoft Forward reveal of some kind (like a cinematic trailer, official name, and release window), as is tradition. Ubisoft Forward is scheduled for June 10th, 2024.

Insider Gaming also reconfirmed that this year’s entry in the franchise will feature dual protagonists, a male and a female. The male character is based on Yasuke, the historical samurai, while the female character is named Naon.

In addition to Red, Assassin’s Creed Infinity is also set to launch, which will act as a hub for all future Assassin’s Creed content and will also feature a “modern-day” setting. The franchise is moving to a unified engine called Anvil, which will streamline development and allow for enhanced visuals with ray tracing and global illumination.

The switch to Anvil will also completely overhaul animations, the parkour system, weather, and more.

The next game in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed Hexe, is set for release in 2026 and will be the second game in the series since Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China in 2015 to feature a sole female protagonist (named Else).

Other Assassin’s Creed games in development include Project Obsidian (a Black Flag remake), Project Nubela (set in India and featuring Aztec and Mediterranean eras), Project Raid (a free-to-play 4v4 PvP game), Project Echoes (a multiplayer game), and another remake. All of these games are planned for release by the end of the decade.
